Embedded Computing Modules, as name suggests are small footprint Computer Boards, with all the standard & advanced peripherals on-board, all accessible through standard Connectors.
The ECMs are ideally used for jumpstarting any design, as the designer focuses on the core characteristics of the system, while ECM handles the Computing Part of the design.
The ECMs are also excellent tools for achieving the lower TCO, as it significantly reduces the Time to Market.
On the Design Front, the ECM can be ordered with BSPs with wider choices of Embedded & Real-time OS (Linux, WinCE, etc.) thus significantly reducing the design time.
On the Hardware Design Front, the ECM takes the complexity out of the overall design as, the designers have to concentrate on providing the simpler and smaller motherboards with the desired peripherals.
On the Manufacturing front, the ECM significantly reduces the cost, as the Adapter Boards need not be complex multilayer Boards.
